These chains are designed for use in mechanical power transmission systems.
If you've ever maintained a pump in a chemical plant, serviced a loom in a jute mill, or replaced a drive chain in a sugar factory — you've worked with a Single Standard Chain. It's the most fundamental, most widely stocked, and most frequently ordered industrial chain in India. Simple in concept. Precise in execution. Absolutely critical in practice.
At Allied Industrial Corporation — Kolkata's authorised Diamond (TIDC India) chain dealer since 1969 — we stock the complete Diamond Single Standard Chain range: every BS series size from 06B-1 to 40B-1, and the full ANSI series from #25 to #120. For immediate dispatch across Kolkata, West Bengal, and Eastern India.
A Single Standard Chain — the technical name for a Simplex Roller Chain — is a single-strand roller chain in which one row of rollers engages a single set of sprocket teeth to transmit rotational power between two shafts. It is the most elemental building block of mechanical power transmission, used in everything from a corner-workshop motorcycle repair to a 24-hour steel plant drive.
Diamond chains are manufactured by TIDC India — part of the Murugappa Group, established 1960 — and are India's market-leading industrial chain brand. What separates Diamond from the flood of generic chains in the Indian market:
• Proprietary pin surface treatment: TIDC India's patented process delivers 3 to 3.5× the wear life of a standard chain pin — critical in Indian factory environments with intermittent lubrication and high ambient dust.
• Alloy steel throughout: Cold-drawn alloy steel wire, case-hardened link plates, and heat-treated pins — not mild steel with a surface coating.
• International standard compliance: Every Diamond Single Standard Chain meets ISO 606, BS 228, DIN 8187 (BS series) and ASME B29.1 (ANSI series) — verified, not merely claimed.
• BIS IS:2403 certified: Relevant Indian Standard for roller chains — verifiable through the Bureau of Indian Standards portal (bis.gov.in).
The term 'Single Standard Chain' covers two main standards in the Indian market, and several material variants. Allied Industrial Corporation stocks all of the following from Diamond (TIDC India):
BS Standard (British Standard) — ISO 606 / BS 228 / DIN 8187: The standard used on virtually all Indian-designed machinery, European equipment, and most Asian OEM machines. Identified by the 'B' designation: 06B-1, 08B-1, 10B-1, 12B-1, 16B-1, 20B-1 and up to 40B-1. If your machine was manufactured in India, or by a European or Asian OEM, you almost certainly need the BS series. This is the most widely stocked series at Allied Industrial Corporation's Kolkata warehouse.
ANSI Standard (American National Standard) — ASME B29.1: Used on machinery designed in the USA, some Japanese OEM equipment, and any machine with inch-based pitch (e.g. 1/2", 5/8", 3/4"). Identified by number codes: #25, #35, #40, #50, #60, #80, #100, #120. If your plant has imported US equipment, or your machine specifies 'ANSI chain' or an imperial pitch size, you need the ANSI series. Allied Industrial Corporation stocks Diamond ANSI series for immediate supply.
